Q & A with Claude

How long have you been a member of the PBR family?

Since October of 2009; going on 13 years!

What are some things you like to do to relax when you're not working?

Golfing is a semi-recent hobby I've token up. My favorite course is The Peninsula at Fort Morgan, which is located about '20 minutes from the resort. I also enjoy gardening and have even managed to cultivate my favorite veggie from back home- Callaloo. Callaloo is like collards or turnip greens. I'm biased, but I'd say it has a milder texture and better flavor than any of its comparison and perfectly complements Saltfish.

Would you describe how an average day may look for the Receiving office?

Trucks begin rolling down our service drive at 6:00am. From their truck, there are three different kinds of goods that we must separate and transport to the appropriate locations: frozen, cooler, and dry products. Our department handles replenishment of every item Food and Beverage related for the resort. The cups that our restaurants and bars use are inventoried and purchased through our office. The napkins that a bartender or server may use to set that beverage on are also inventoried and purchased through our office. Alcohol, straws, cutlery, dishware, food items, are some others off the top of my head. It can be overwhelming to think about the number of items that come and go through our department, but we strive to maintain effective and intentional communication with other departments so that there is a proper checks and balances system in place.

What do you do on a daily basis to make PBR paradise?

I love networking, and I enjoy building meaningful and mutually-beneficial relationships with other restaurants on the island. We support each other and can extend each other grace when the other is in need.The food and beverage industry can be extremely intense but also equally rewarding , I am thankful that our island has become the outlier for restauranters, and that we can all peacefully coexist among each other. Within that same sentiment, we are thrilled for the connections we've made that have provided us with national contracts. I am We are constantly watching the market, and are in touch with brokers and manufacturers daily, to ensure that we are utilizing our resources effectively and providing our guests with the finest provisions available.
